Description

The gain in elevation is tremendous right after leaving the village as the view back to St. Antönien confirms. After climbing through open woods the hikers cross an idyllic clearing which in summer time is an alpine wetland. The first mountain peaks appear in the background.

Leaving the forest the plateau below the “Valpuner Alp” is reached. The panorama stretches from the “Schesaplana” to the Austrian peaks. Straight ahead is the «Chrüz», one of the schist foothills south of the «Rätikon», a favorite destination for ski and snowshoe hikers. The peak shaped like an even pyramid rises over the mountain villages of Pany, Stels and St. Antönien, and is easily accessible. The Chrüz is also called «Rigi of the Prättigau».

The trail runs along the foot of the «Chrüz», on a nearly level and sunny plateau. Up and down through the open woods the terrain opens more and more and levels closer to the valley bottom. The groomed hiking trail runs pretty flat, then slightly downhill to Pany. The trail can be traveled both ways.

Geheimtipp

You should stop over at the Bodahütte and take a break at Dorlis and Hans place. By the way: They rent sleds with special ski-skids, for those who prefer sledding.

Sicherheitshinweis

The panoramic route is only considered open, as long as signaled and prepared. A visit outside the official season is not recommended; it is at your own risk.

With the Rhaetian Railway RhB to Schiers (90.218) or Küblis (90.222) and by PostBus to Pany or St. Antönien.

Anreise Information

Take the A13 and the N28 to Küblis, then follow the Luzeinerstrasse to Pany / St. Antönien.

Parken

In St. Antönien all parking spaces are subject to a charge. In the car parks you can pay with cash, Parkingpay-App, Easy-Park or TWINT. Car park P2 is located in the village centre just above the church.
Summer and winter: P41 ski lift, P42 Güggelstein, P43 swimming pool, parking is subject to charges. It can be paid with cash, Parkingpay-App, Easy-Park or TWINT.

Milchschafhof Riedwies

The farm is located at 1430 m above sea level.m in mountain zone 3. 21 hectares of land are cultivated and the barn is animated by 140 dairy sheep. Production is silo-free and according to organic guidelines. Milking is done all year round on the home farm, as there is no possibility of alping. In order to achieve more or less the same amount of milk every month, the family works with three groups of sheep, which lamb in the order of magnitude in September, December and April.
