Description
In St. Antönien the first 600 meters of elevation gain start on a small road, then on an increasingly narrow alpine path. During the summer high season, these first meters to the Bärgli can easily be covered with the Alpine bus. Afterwards it becomes a bit flatter and opens up a wonderful panorama of the Schijenflue. It is worth taking a short detour to the Carschinasee before running on a panoramic trail to the Carschina hut SAC. You follow the Prättigau Höhenweg, which meanders continuously up and down under the Drusenfluh. The highlight of the route is the crossing to Austria through the Swiss Gate. A spectacular path leads through a small gap between the rock walls. Then the terrain becomes gentler again and the trail over Verajoch offers every trailrunner pure enjoyment. Before the Lünersee, you turn left and pass the national border at Cavelljoch. Back on Swiss soil, you join the Prättigau Höhenweg again, which you follow to the Schesaplanahütte SAC. After a short section on a gravel road, you turn right at Vordersäss onto a partly technical, lonely path. This mostly leads uphill to Luderer Egg and then crosses the southwest flank of the Sassauna. The last descent to Eggli is a worthy conclusion to the route.
