Details
Description
The Gruobenflüeli area mainly offers steep slab climbing. Due to the 160 m high Flüeli, you find 15 routes between difficulty grades 5 and 8. Rock'n Roll (7+), Hüenerhaut (7-), and Nebelmeer (6+) are the most popular. In the area of the Grüenwändli, there are up to 40 climbing routes, a playground for recreational climbers.
Between Grüenfürggli and Tilisunafürggli are ideal climbing rocks with the best ambiance. The already existing climbing area «Grüenwändli» was supplemented by new, very well secured routes. These offer wonderful, even fantastic climbing on the best, water-eroded rock. The existing area «Grüenwändli» was developed in summer 1993 by Ernst Heusser and Markus Janett. In 2009 the Grüenwändli area was extended with the Gruoben climbing garden. The routes were set up by Mario Luginbühl, Vital Eggenberger, and some helpers. Together with the adjacent «Gruobenflüeli» to the left, whose routes were also renovated and are considered well secured, the climbing area «Gruoben» offers an ideal playground for climbing enthusiasts.
Securing
The existing routes from 1993 (routes 3 to 17) are well secured with bolts, but in easier sections, larger bolt distances are to be expected. These can sometimes be mitigated using mobile protection devices. The belay stations are consistently equipped with two bolts and partly connected with chains. The new routes left and right of these are very well and fully secured with bolts, allowing stress-free climbing. The belay stations are all constructed with modern chain anchors.
