Description
Born in Bregaglia, Augusto Giacometti – known as "Il maestro dei colori" – was an important Swiss painter in the wake of Art Nouveau and an innovator of stained glass. Among his most important works in public space are the painting of the Zurich police station ("Blüemlihalle") and his sacred stained glass windows in Zurich (Grossmünster, Fraumünster, Wasserkirche, Pauluskirche) and elsewhere.
Giacometti created his first stained glass window in 1914 for St. Martin's Church in Chur. Later, the stained glass windows in Küblis (1921), Klosters (1928) and Zuoz (1929/1933), among others, followed. Walter Isler leads us to Giacometti's stained glass window "The Twelve Apostles" in Küblis. This church and cultural tour will be enriched with organ music (Jürg Stocker is at the organ) and a reflection by Pastor Joachim Berg. Start of the event in front of the Reformed Church Küblis at 10:30 a.m. End of the event at about 11:45 a.m.
